The Counter-Earth Series began in 1967 with the release of 'Tarnsman of Gor' by John Frederick Lange, Jr., Ph.D. under the pen name 'John Norman'. At first the series began as a set of manuscripts supposedly given to Mr. Norman by a friend Harrison Smith who taught along with Tarl Cabot at the small men's college in New Hampshire. Mr. Norman led us to believe that these manuscripts were purposedly true, in accordance with the text, during the first three novels. The release of 'Priest-Kings of Gor' brought us the last mention of the manuscripts until a small page note in 'Magicians of Gor' concerning monetary value.

The first novel I acquired was 'Priest-Kings of Gor' with which I fell in love instantly. My second and third were 'Outlaw of Gor' and 'Tarnsman of Gor' respectively. In essence, I read the first three books in reverse order. But due to Mr. Norman's writing style, I was easily able to keep up and learn the world just as easily as if I had started with the first and went in order. Mr. Norman's writing style is oftentimes critized and demeaned, but I will be the first to stand up and admit I continue to enjoy reading the series. It has yet to become 'old' to me. I doubt it ever will.

Within this section of my website I will be going through each book and posting the cover art, copyright information, printing information, publishers as well as the rear cover book synopsis. Also in addition to that I plan on covering each book technically by essay, telling about the setting, what happens, where Tarl or the main character goes.

I hope this resource proves useful to those that wish to use it. I wish you well and happy reading!
